The Werkstatt
We have lived and worked in Lower Bavaria for more than fifty years, developing our own forms, stoneware bodies and wood-ash glazes in our own Werkstatt. Nothing here is bought in and re-sold: every piece is thrown on the potter's wheel, glazed by hand and fired by us.
Every piece is one of a kind
Because each pot is handmade, pieces vary slightly. They always belong together, but no two are identical — this is not factory ware, and small differences in a glaze are the point rather than a fault. If a piece is not in stock, it takes three to six months to make.
How the pieces are made
Our stoneware is thrown and shaped on the potter's wheel, then fired as high as 1300 °C in a gas kiln, in both oxidation and reduction. That is what makes the pieces dishwasher-safe and suitable for the microwave. Our glazes are made without lead, cadmium or selenium, so they are free of harmful substances.
